Christinegård Hovedhård
Our first performance ever in Christinegård hovedgård!Currentes performs pieces by themselves and others. Pieces from the baroque are usually short, and with a string identity. Nowhere is this more cleare than in a "Suite de pièces", where each new movement has a different character. We have worked to understand the identity of each movement better, by making new pieces on the same bass. We perform one "home-made" suite on the bass-line for J. S. Bach´s famous Goldberg-variations, and another suite on a bass by Charles Dieupart.

Our first performance ever in Søreide church! We offer a new version of our programme at Christinegård Hovedgård. And new it will be: as we improvise the melodic lines over the harmonic structures of Bach and Dieupart, the pieces always come out a bit different.

Finally consort! A few years back, the ensembles Bergen Barokk and Currentes purchased together a consort of 9 recorders from the wonderful maker Adrian Brown. In this concert we present them all, together with a rare copy of a Trasuntino-harpsichord. We are particularly happy to invite the recorder players Caroline Eidsten Dahl and Sjur Haga Bringeland to perform with us, in a programme that explores a variety of compositional strategies: dances, songs without works and songs based on other songs.

Together with the composers Pritchard and Gjertsen, Currentes continues on some of the concepts developed 2015-2018 in the research project "Wheels within Wheels". We perform music based on a medieval material, partially with voices and acoustic material, partially through processed recordings disseminated through a multi-speaker set-set-up. The concert is followed by a panel-conversation with Annabel Guaita. The concert and conversation is part of the series "Notelangs".

Currentes is proud and happy to contribute to Bergen Kommune and University of Bergen´s seminar on the occasion of the 40th anniversary for Bryggen and Urnes stavkirke as Unesco World Heritage. We perform the oldest known Norwegian secular song, "Ex te lux oritur", written for the wedding between king Eirik Magnusson and princess Margareta of Scotland in Håkon´s hall in 1281. (The song is also known as "Carmen Gratulatorium".) We will also play instrumental music alongside French and Italian songs from the 14th century.

The association Dante Alighieriin Bergen celebrates 60 years and has invited Currentes to contribute. We cannot imagine a more informed audience for our repertoire of late medieval songs. We will sing songs with poetry in the "dolce stil nuovo" that Dante hiself was influential in developing, as well as a song by the composer and papal secretary Antonio "Zacara" da Teramo on the political events in Italy at the end of the Middle Ages.
